Green Hill Park is one of my go-to spots for family photos in Worcester. As a Worcester family photographer, I’m always looking for locations that are beautiful and easy for families – and this one checks both boxes. There’s plenty of open space, mature trees, pretty light, and room for kids to move.

I’ve photographed lots of families here over the years, and it’s one of those locations that just works. We can get plenty of variety without going far, so your kids can run, explore, and do their thing without spending half the session walking from one spot to another.

And yes, Green Hill Park is huge — but don’t worry. I know exactly where the best spots are!

Why I Love Green Hill Park for Family Photos

If you’ve ever tried to wrangle active kiddos for photos, you know how important “easy” is. This spot has:

• Convenient parking close to the area I use for photos
• Plenty of open space for kids to run, play, and take breaks from “official” photos
• Lots of variety nearby with open fields, mature trees, and pretty natural backdrops
• A built-in post-photo reward with a playground and the Green Hill Park Farm nearby

What to Wear for Family Photos

With so much green space at Green Hill Park, I usually keep family outfits on the softer side. Neutrals and earthy colors photograph really well here, and in the fall especially, they let all that seasonal color do its thing without your outfits competing with it.

For this location, some of my favorites are:

• Cream, camel, taupe, olive, charcoal, and soft gray
• Knits, corduroy, quilted layers, and other subtle textures
• A small pattern mixed in with mostly solid pieces
• Shoes that you don’t mind wearing in the grass

Planning Worcester Family Photos at Green Hill Park

Like most outdoor locations, time of day matters. I plan around the light, which means session times shift throughout the year. Spring through fall can all be beautiful here, from fresh greens earlier in the season to warmer tones and changing leaves in the fall.

Green Hill is also pretty easy on families. The area I use for photos is close to parking, and we can get plenty of variety without a long walk or hauling half your life across the park.

Because, respectfully, getting everyone dressed and into the car is enough of an accomplishment.

• Wear shoes that work well in grass
• Arrive a little early so everyone has time to settle in
• Bring a favorite snack for little ones if needed
