Molly Katherine Photography is a luxury, full-service newborn photographer serving families in the greater Boston area. Also offering maternity, baby, and family photography, our cozy + bright studio space is located just west of downtown Boston.

.) BE TRUE TO YOURSELF before worrying about anything else – There’s nothing more beautiful than feeling confident in your own skin, so make sure that you choose an outfit that you feel comfortable in and that fits well. I always advise to bring more than one outfit with you. For outdoor sessions, wear clothes that are fashionable, yet still functional for the location.

.) MAMAS choose your outfit first – It’s easier to decide on wardrobe choices when you have a foundation to start with. Using one outfit to thoughtfully select colors, patterns, and accessories for the rest of the family will create a look that is cohesive and beautiful.

.) NEUTRALS are always in season – Neutrals keep skin tones looking true to life and help minimize harsh color casts in your photographs. A softer color palette lends itself to the light, bright and classic style you see in my portfolio.

.) KEEP it simple – Try to stay away from neon colors or loud patterns since these will take interest and focus away from the subjects…you and your beautiful family!

.) PICK your colors – Incorporate three to four colors throughout your outfits, using a combination of patterns and solids. Soft, neutral colors are ideal for creating the style of photographs you often see in my portfolio.

.) CONSIDER your decor – If you’re planning to display your photos, it’s always key to consider what decor you have in your home. Try and pick a similar color palette and your images will fit in beautifully.

.) TREAT yourself – Don’t be afraid to dress up! When else can you wear a full length dress and not feel over-dressed?! It’s not only fun, but it’s something different than the everyday and professional photographs can definitely be considered a special occasion!

.) DON’T forget shoes! – For outdoor shoots, remember that you’ll want to be comfortable, but stay away from character themed shoes, and ones with bulky soles. Personally, I always look to go barefoot where possible or opt for subtle sandals.
